Ocean Shore State Recreation Area, Newport

Ocean Shore State Recreation Area is a place with picture perfect landscapes, pleasant weather and a tranquil environment. The beach has both, long stretches of golden sand and rocky shores. You can also go hiking at the nearby hiking trails. If you’re traveling with a pet, you have nothing to worry about. Ocean Shore State Recreation Area is counted amongst the most dog friendly beaches in the West Coast of the U.S.A. A well trained and obedient pooch is allowed to run around off leash at this place. However, you would need to make sure that you carry a leash with you at all times and are ready to restrain your dog if any park employee asks you to. There are a number of other simple rules and regulations that you and your furbaby would need to adhere to.

Cannon Beach, Cannon Beach

Cannon Beach offers serene sweeping vistas, beautiful weather and numerous things to do for puppers and their pawrents. You can go for a swim in the ocean with your furbaby doggie- paddling right next to you. There are a number of hiking trails nearby where both of you can go hiking together. The best part is that, while at the beach, your little darling can go off leash and have the time of his/her life. However, it is important that your dog is trained well and has a recall good enough for him/her to get back to you the moment you call him/her. It is also important that s/he is usually friendly with other pets and humans. Cannon Beach is one of the best dog friendly beaches in not just Oregon but in the whole country. Even as a city, they rank pretty high in the pet friendly section. They host a fireworks-free Fourth of July weekend celebration where your pupper can join in without any worry of getting upset by loud scary noises. They also organize an annual event for doggies named Dog Show On the Beach with categories like Best Trick, Longest Tail, Most Beautiful and Best Bark. How awesome is that?

Seal Rock State Recreation Site, Seal Rock

Seal Rock State Recreation Site is one of those beaches that allow dogs to go off leash as long as they are under complete control of their pawrents through voice commands. However, if you have a doggo who loves running off on his/her own and doesn’t come back to you instantly when called, it is better to keep him/her leashed while exploring the beach together. Miles of sandy-rocky shores, intriguing tidepools and a number of hiking trails — there’s much to explore at Seal Rock State Recreation Site. You also get to indulge in some wildlife watching as there are off shore rock formations where sea lions, sea birds and seals etc. like to perch and sunbathe. You can view them from the shores. There’s also a nice picnic area for you and your travel mates to have a nice little picnic under the shade of the trees.

Manzanita Beach, Manzanita

Manzanita Beach is a pet friendly beach and hence, allows pets to walk off leash as long as they are well behaved and not aggressive towards other humans and canines. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Oregon. There are tons of exciting activities for you and your pupper to participate in. Surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and boogie boarding can be even more fun when your doggo joins in. Make sure that both of you have wetsuits on as the water can get a bit chilly. If you want your time at the beach to be more serene and less athletic, then take a pair of binoculars with you and have a nice soothing time viewing some marine life species, and watching the fishing boats and shipping vessels go by at a distance. It can turn out to be a very wonderful experience.
