Restricted Breeds

Elderly pets, aggressive pets, large pets, pregnant pets, pets younger than 8 weeks and those suffering from any disease are not permitted for air travel. Due to health risks most airlines restrict snub-nosed breeds (brachycephalic breeds) from flying. This is because they are more vulnerable to changes in air pressure and temperature which may cause severe respiratory issues. The transportation of captive wildlife, which requires a special permit to be kept as pets, may be subject to the policy of the airline and the destination country. Following are the breeds that are restricted from traveling:

  • Japanese Chin
  • Presa Canario

  • Burmese Cat
  • Exotic Shorthair Cat
  • Himalayan Cat
  • Persian Cat
