Most airlines accept pets weighing 20 lbs or less in the cabin and no more than 100 lbs in the cargo hold. Larger dogs that do not meet the requirement of the cabin will be transported in the cargo hold. Before booking your flights with a pet, it is always advised to check any seasonal restrictions the airline may have.

XL Airways France Pet Policy

Depending on the weight, size and breed, XL Airways France accepts pets onboard. However, the reservations for it must be made well in advance. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Only dogs and cats, not less than 3 months in age are accepted as pet passengers on XL Airways France.

In-cabin

Pets traveling in the cabin of the aircraft are required to stay inside a closed soft bag or a closed carrier, the dimensions of which must not be more than 21.54 x 15.54 x 9.05 inches. Also, the weight of the pet and the bag or carrier combined should not exceed 15 lbs.

Checked Baggage

Pets that exceed the weight restriction of the cabin will be transported as checked baggage. The weight of the pet and that of the carrier together must not be more than 110 lbs. The carrier in which the pet will be kept should be big enough to ensure a comfortable journey for him/her.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

XL Airways accepts emotional support and service animals onboard at no extra charge. While service animals are allowed to travel on all routes, emotional support animal are only welcome on flights bound to or from the United States of America. Before the departure of the flight, dependent passengers are required to present the airline with the essential documents.

  • In case of an emotional support animal, a letter issued by a licensed medical practitioner stating that the dependent passenger is undergoing treatment under his/her care for an emotional disability as recognized in the DSM IV and is in need of the animal for the flight journey.
  • In case of a service animal, a training certificate stating that the animal is trained to help the dependent passenger with a specific task.
