Virgin Atlantic Pet Policy

Virgin Atlantic welcomes pet(s) to travel on their selected flights provided that the conditions for it are met by passengers. So, finding out all there is to know about pet travel is required to avoid encountering any troubles. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Virgin Atlantic accepts only dogs and cats as pet passengers.

In-cabin

At present, Virgin Atlantic does not allow pets to travel in the cabin except for service animals.

In-cargo

A pet that is large, is not a service animal and is required to travel unaccompanied is transported via the cargo service of the airline. To transport a pet in the cargo, a carrier that is made of wood or hard plastic, is secure, leak proof, non-collapsible and adequately ventilated is needed. It should also be sufficiently sized to allow the pet to stand up, turn around and sit comfortably. For that purpose, the dimensions of the carrier as accepted by the airline is 30 x 20 x 21 inches.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Virgin Atlantic accepts assistance dogs to fly in the cabin of the aircraft at no extra cost on selected routes. The assistance dog must be trained, well behaved, clean and vaccinated. The dog must also remain at all times under the control of the dependent passenger and be properly harnessed.
