Vietnam Airlines Pet Policy

Due to capacity restriction only a limited number of pets are accepted on the flights operated by Vietnam Airlines. Therefore, passengers are advised to make bookings for pet travel well in advance. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Domesticated dogs, cats and small birds are accepted as pet passengers on Vietnam Airlines.

In-cabin

Pets traveling in the cabin of the aircraft are required to stay put inside the carrier for the entire flight’s duration. The carrier must be of a solid material, leak proof and intact with locks. The carrier should be adequately sized for the pet’s convenience and must not measure more than 14 x 12 x 8 inches. The weight of the pet and the carrier combined must not exceed 13 lbs.

Checked Baggage

Pets that do not meet the specifications of the cabin are required to travel as checked baggage. The combined weight of the pet and the carrier must be within 71 lbs. The carrier in which the pet is required to be kept must be large enough for the pet to comfortably sit, stand and turn around.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Vietnam Airlines welcomes service dogs in the cabin of their flights at no additional charge.
