Turkish Airlines Pet Policy

Turkish Airlines welcomes pet(s) to travel on its flights. However, all the basic formalities must be done prior to the scheduled departure to avoid any last minute hassle. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Pets such as dogs, cats, small singing birds are accepted onboard Turkish Airlines.

In-cabin

The weight of the pet and the carrier combined should not be more than 17 lbs. The dimensions of the carrier as laid down by the airline should not exceed 9 x 15.5 x 21.5 inches. Also, two pets of same breed and size that are familiar with each other and do not exceed the weight limit can travel in the same carrier.

Checked Baggage

Pets that do not meet the criteria of the cabin and are large enough are required to travel as checked baggage in the aircraft. The pet must be kept in a carrier that is adequately sized for his/her comfort, has proper ventilation arrangement and is watertight. Also, the carrier must be intact with the label inscribed with the pet’s information.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Turkish Airlines accepts emotional support and service dogs on all its flights taking off to or from United States of America. However, the dependent passenger must furnish the airline with the necessary documents:

• A statement issued by the veterinarian about the pet’s health
• A written statement by the passenger about the pet’s ability to relieve itself without posing any health or sanitation concern
• A letter issued by a medical practitioner that the passenger is surviving with an emotional disability as recognized in the DSM IV or V and is need of the dog for traveling purpose
