Sun Country Airlines Pet Policy

Sun Country allows pets to travel with them on select flights within the United States. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s). Sun Country airlines’ limit on the number of pets is 4 per flight. So confirming availability with the airlines is the first step of many, as explained further.

Pet Criteria

Only domesticated cats and dogs are eligible to travel in Sun Country Airlines. The weight of the pet and the carrier combined together should not exceed 16 lbs (7 kg).

In-cabin

One pet (plus carrier) is permitted per passenger. The carrier should be of the soft sided kind with enough ventilation and space for the pet to move around and stand up comfortably. The carrier should not be bigger than 16" x 11" x 8" (40 cm x 28 cm x 20 cm) and should always be placed under the seat.

In-cargo

Currently, the flight does not have pet travel provisions as checked in baggage or cargo hold.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Trained Service Animals assisting individuals with visual, auditory or movement related disabilities are permitted on Sun Country’s domestic and international flights at no cost. They may be required to present vaccination records and documents as required by the destination country. As for Emotional Support Animals, a licensed medical professional must state the need of the companion either on the plane or at the destination and must also mention the disability as stated in Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition (DSM V).
