Saudi Arabian Airlines Pet Policy

Saudi Arabian Airlines, the flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, allows pets to travel in-cabin or in the cargo-hold section. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia only permits entry for guard/hunting/seeing-eye/hearing dogs. Live birds are allowed only after acquiring the proper documentation and certification from the Ministry of Agriculture with the guarantee that the bird is free from any kind of infectious diseases. Household pets, including cats, would require to carry proper documents such as health certificates and vaccination record.

In-cabin

Cats and small birds are allowed to be transported in the cabin of an aircraft. While traveling with a cat, make sure that the combined weight of the cat and its carrier does not exceed the weight limit of 11 lb. Only one pet is allowed in each pet carrier. The dimensions of the pet carrier must not exceed the size restrictions of 21 x 13 x 16 inches. The container needs to be leak proof and should have enough holes for proper ventilation.

Checked Baggage

Cats, dogs and small birds are allowed to be transported in the cargo hold of an aircraft as long as it is equipped with proper ventilation system.

In-cargo

Large live-stock animals and wild animals are allowed to be transported only as cargo as long as it follows the rules and regulations of air cargo transportation system.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Only service animals such as dogs for the blind and the deaf are allowed to be transported as service animals. No extra fee will be charged for the transportation of service animals.
