Most airlines accept pets weighing 20 lbs or less in the cabin and no more than 100 lbs in the cargo hold. Larger dogs that do not meet the requirement of the cabin will be transported in the cargo hold. Before booking your flights with a pet, it is always advised to check any seasonal restrictions the airline may have.

Royal Jordanian Pet Policy

Royal Jordanian, the flag carrier of Jordan, allows pets to be transported in the cabin and as checked baggage. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Pets accepted in Royal Jordanian flights include cats, dogs and other small domestic animals. On certain routes, they also accept falcons on their flights. Falcons need to be kept hooded properly during the fight. A maximum of two falcons are allowed per seat. Depending on the type of aircraft you’re flying in, the number of falcons allowed to be flown range from 10-15 falcons. During the flight, passengers also need to keep their falcons restrained with a rope or a chain that’s attached to the bird’s leg and the aircraft’s seat. All types of rodents are prohibited from Royal Jordanian flights.

In-cabin

Pet dogs, cats and flacons are permitted to travel only in the Economy class of an aircraft and only when the rules and regulations of pet travel is followed by the passengers and their pets. The weight of the pet carrier cannot exceed the weight limit of 15 lb. The flight duration is not more than 5 hours. The dimensions of the pet carrier must not be more than 20 x 16 x 10 inches. The reservation for the pet to fly with you in the cabin needs to be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight.

Checked Baggage

Pets like cats, dogs and other small domestic animals are allowed to be transported as checked baggage as long as their owners are traveling in the same flight and as long as all the rules and regulations pertaining to pet travel are being followed. Pets traveling as checked baggage would be treated as excess baggage and hence, will be chargeable. Both, your pet and its carrier, would be charged on the basis of their weight.
