LIAT Airlines has provisions for pet travel but only in their cargo wing. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s). The airline has limited space in the cargo section and transport of your pet will be subject to the status of bookings, so confirming the availability is the first step of many, as explained further.
Domesticated pets such as dogs, cats and household birds are permitted in the airline’s pet policy.
Currently only service/emotional support animals are permitted to travel in the cabin.
Pets are only allowed to travel in the cargo compartment of the airline. This area of the airline has the same temperature and pressure as the passenger cabin. For transport, the animal needs to be in an IATA compliant crate. The crate’s size should not exceed 26" L x 24" W x 36" H (66 cm x 60 cm x 91 cm).
LIAT accepts only dogs as Support/Service animals. They can travel for free but only 1 assistance dog is permitted per passenger. The dog must be clean, hygienic and well behaved, and should be able to fit under the seat in front of the passenger, the dimensions for which are 24" x 10" x14". Credible documentation verifying the mental health status of the individual and the need of the dog will be required by the airline. As for service dogs, proper ID card, harness and written documentation of their training will suffice.
