Most airlines accept pets weighing 20 lbs or less in the cabin and no more than 100 lbs in the cargo hold. Larger dogs that do not meet the requirement of the cabin will be transported in the cargo hold. Before booking your flights with a pet, it is always advised to check any seasonal restrictions the airline may have.

LATAM Airlines Pet Policy

LATAM Airlines welcomes pets to travel on their selected flights but the reservations for it should be made in advance as it is subject to availability. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Dogs and cats are welcome onboard LATAM Airlines. However, they should not be less than 8 weeks old.

In-cabin

Pets are accepted in the cabin of the aircraft. However, the combined weight of the pet and the carrier must not exceed 15 lbs. The carrier as recommended by the airline must either be a soft side carrier or a hard sided carrier. While the dimensions of the soft sided carrier must be within 14 x 13 x 9 inches, the hard sided carrier cannot exceed 14 x 13 x 7.5 inches.

Checked Baggage

Emotional Support/Service Animal

LATAM Airlines allows emotional support and service animals to travel in the cabin of the aircraft at no extra cost. However, as a proof, passengers accompanied by such animals should provide the airline the necessary documents ahead in time. Documents required include:

  • Medical certificate issued by a licensed medical practitioner to reason the requirement of an emotional support animal
  • Identification of a trained service dog by a professional service animal institution
