Most airlines accept pets weighing 20 lbs or less in the cabin and no more than 100 lbs in the cargo hold. Larger dogs that do not meet the requirement of the cabin will be transported in the cargo hold. Before booking your flights with a pet, it is always advised to check any seasonal restrictions the airline may have.

Korean Air Pet Policy

Korean Air is the largest airline of South Korea and welcomes pets in the cabin, cargo and as checked baggage. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s). The number of pets allowed per aircraft are restricted by the airline, so confirming the availability is the first step of many, as explained further.

Pet Criteria

Dogs, cats and birds who are at least 8 weeks old are permitted to travel with Korean Air. Animals traveling in hold must be at least 16 weeks old.

Only 1 pet per passenger is allowed in cabin. 2 pets can travel as carry ons if they are the same breed and are less than 6 months old. Pets along with their carrier must weigh less than 11 lbs (5 kg) to be eligible to travel with the passenger in the cabin. The maximum height of the carrier in the cabin can be 45" H (115 cm). Emotional Support/Service Animal

Service dogs and Emotional Support Animals can travel in the cabin with the passenger but they must always sit in front of the passenger and should not occupy a seat or obstruct the aisle. The passenger should be able to provide all the documents including the training of the dog, quarantine certificates and a medical statement of the individual’s health.
