Kenya Airways Pet Policy

Kenya Airways, the flag carrier of Kenya allows live animals to travel with them. However conditions do apply. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Pets, other live animals, and assistance and support dogs are welcome to travel with Kenya Airways.

In-cabin

Currently there is no provision for pets to travel in the cabin. Service/Support dogs can however travel with the passenger in the cabin.

In-cargo

All live animals except for Service/Support dogs will be consigned as cargo and will be transported with Kenya Airways Cargo. The cargo section is supposed to have the same temperature and pressure settings as the passenger cabin. A crate that is IATA regulations compliant will be needed by the airline to prevent escape and successfully and comfortably transport your animal. A health certificate confirming the health and vaccination status of the pet will be required by the airline.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Support/Service dogs can fly free of charge in the cabin with the passengers if the individual provides a letter from a licensed mental health professional stating the need of a support animal and/or the animal is trained to perform certain functions like assisting people with difficulties in seeing, hearing or moving. They can travel without a cage provided they are harnessed, do not occupy a seat or obstruct the aisle and are well behaved.
