Icelandair welcomes pets to travel with them just as well as their passengers. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s). A maximum of 4 animal crates will be allowed in the hold, so confirming the availability is the first step of many, as explained further.
Household dogs, cats and service/emotional support dogs are permitted to travel with Icelandair.
Currently, no pets other than service/support dogs can travel in the cabin.
Only 1 animal per container can be admitted in the baggage hold. The exception to this is that up to 2 small animals of the same species can be carried in the same crate. However, the combined weight of the pet(s) and the container should not be more than 88 lbs (40 kg) and the dimensions of the carrier should not exceed 36" L x 25" W x 28" H (91 cm x 63 cm x 71 cm). The crates provided should most certainly be IATA compliant.
Icelandair Cargo will be used to transport animals to the UK and Ireland.
Trained and certified service dogs, meeting the parameters of Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF), can travel in the cabin provided the documentation provided is no more than 6 months old. Only 1 service animal is allowed per flight. Emotional Support/psychiatric dogs can also travel in the cabin if a doctor certificate stating the need to travel with the dog is provided.
