Most airlines accept pets weighing 20 lbs or less in the cabin and no more than 100 lbs in the cargo hold. Larger dogs that do not meet the requirement of the cabin will be transported in the cargo hold. Before booking your flights with a pet, it is always advised to check any seasonal restrictions the airline may have.

Frontier Airlines Pet Policy

Frontier Airlines allows pets to travel in the cabin on all its domestic flights as well as on flights to/from the Dominican Republic and Mexico. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Frontier Airlines allows certain animals - dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, or small household birds- to travel in cabin within United States. With respect to international travel, a passenger can only take dogs or cats.

In-cabin

All necessary arrangement that is involved in flying a pet to a required destination is the responsibility of the passenger. Once that is taken care of, the first step is to get a soft-sided carrier that is large enough for the pet to comfortably travel. The carrier should also be able to fit underneath the seat in front of the passenger. Keeping that guideline in mind, the appropriate carrier dimension as stated by the airline is 18 x 14 x 8 inches.

In-cargo

Due to risk involved in transporting pets via checked baggage or cargo, Frontier Airlines does not roll out these services.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Frontier Airlines allows passengers to bring emotional support and service animals. However, only one animal - a dog, cat or a miniature horse- per passenger is accepted onboard. A passenger planning to travel with an emotional support and service animal is required to provide certain documents to the airline to assure of the pet’s health and safety as well as of those in the cabin. The documents required include:

  • Frontier Medical/Mental Health Professional Form completed by the passenger’s licensed medical/mental health professional.
  • Frontier Animal Behavior Acknowledgment Form signed by the passenger.
