Finnair Pet Policy

Finnair welcomes pet(s) on selected flights, which must be approved well in advance by the airline. So, make plans accordingly. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Dogs, cats, rabbits and rodents are accepted as pet passenger onboard Finnair flights.

In-cabin

Finnair suggests that dogs, cats and rabbits travel in a soft sided carrier, the dimensions of which must never be more than 21 x 15 x 8 inches. On the other hand, a rodent must always be kept in a hard sided carrier, the dimensions of which must be within 14 x 12 x 8 inches. Irrespective of the carrier, it should be flexible enough to accommodate under the seat and must be large enough to let the pet stand up, turn around and sit comfortably.

Checked Baggage

Animals that exceed the required limitation of the cabin must be transported as checked baggage. A pet that weighs more than 88 lbs should be kept inside a strong carrier. Also, the carrier should be big enough and properly ventilated. The combined weight of the pet and carrier should be within 110 lbs.

In-cargo

Animals that exceed the weight restriction of 110 lbs are transported via cargo in a carrier that is made up of sturdy material, is intact with bolts and nuts and has proper ventilation arrangement.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Finnair lets passengers travel with emotional support and service animals at no extra cost. However, passenger must present documents to the airline to ascertain the requirement of the accompanying animal.
