Emirates Pet Policy

Emirates allows pet(s) to travel onboard its flights, however, it takes into consideration the restriction of the destination as imposed on pet travel. Therefore, it is essential that a passenger planning to fly with a pet finds out if the pet is permitted to enter a desired destination. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Falcons, cats, birds and dogs are accepted as pet passengers onboard Emirates.

In-cabin

At present, Emirates does not permit pets to travel in the cabin of the aircraft except for falcons on certain routes and guide dogs.

Checked Baggage

Pets can be transported as checked baggage if the flight duration is not more than 17 hours. Throughout the flight’s duration, the pet must remain inside the carrier, the dimensions of which must not exceed 59 inches. Also, the weight of the carrier and pet combined must not be more than 51 lbs. Two pets of comparable size and those that are familiar with each other can travel in the same carrier, provided that the weight of them does not exceed 31 lbs each.

In-cargo

Animals that do not meet the requirements of the checked baggage are transported via the cargo service of the airline. The arrangements must be made well in advance.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Emirates accepts service dog in the cabin of the aircraft at no additional cost. However, the airline must be made aware about the plan to travel with a service dog ahead of the scheduled departure. A credible verbal assurance of the dependent passenger as well as the necessary health record must be provided to the airline.
