The German leisure airline, Condor accepts pets on board but with an advanced booking and confirmed reservation as there is a limited carrying capacity for pets in the aircraft. The airline permits only one pet per carrier to ensure an easy and convenient travel for the pet. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).
Pets must be at least 4 months old to be transported within the European Union (EU). In case the pets need to travel from unlisted third countries to the EU, pets must not be less than 7 months in age to fly with the airline.
Small pets are permitted by Condor to travel with the passenger in the cabin of the aircraft provided that the pet remains in his/her carrier during the entire flight. The combined weight of the pet carrier and the pet must not be more than 18 lb. The carrier must be well- ventilated, waterproof and lockable. It should also strictly adhere to the standards set by IATA. The dimensions of the carrier must not be more than 22 x 16 x 8 inches in order for it to be accepted by the airline.
The airline allows a certain number of pets to be transported as checked baggage. Hence, the airline must be provided with all the necessary information beforehand regarding the pet, such as its weight including the carrier, the exact dimensions of the carrier and the breed of the pet, 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time of the flight for transporting animals as checked baggage. The carrier containing the pet must not exceed the dimensions of 31 x 22 x 39 inches and needs to be equipped with water and food containers. The crate must be properly ventilated and spacious enough for the pet to stand, sit, lie down and turn around in a comfortable manner.
Assistance dogs and emotional support dogs are welcomed aboard to fly in the cabin by Condor without any additional charges. In case of assistance dogs, the airline only accepts the dogs trained as per the standards of Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF). The assistance dog must be provided with a dog car safety harness to ensure its security. In case of emotional support dogs, Condor only accepts the pets on the flights to and/or from United States of America. When traveling with emotional support dog, the documentation from the medicinal practitioner must be issued stating that the passenger is undergoing treatment under him/her, has mental or emotional illness as recognized by the DSM IV and requires the emotional support dog while traveling in flight or at the destination.
