China Southern Airlines Pet Policy

China Southern Airlines accepts small household pets to travel in the baggage hold of their aircraft. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s). There may be size and weight limitations as well as certain restrictions on the breeds and species, so confirming the booking is the first step of many, as explained further.

Pet Criteria

Small household animals like cats, dogs and birds are accepted for transportation by the airline.

In-cabin

Currently, no pets other than Service/Support dogs can travel in the cabin.

Checked Baggage

Only 1 pet or 1 pair of birds are permitted per passenger. The containers carrying them should be made of sturdy substances like metal or wood. The maximum weight of the pet and carrier added together is 32 kg. They should have ample ventilation from at least three sides and must have a leak proof bottom. The carrier must not be larger than 15" x 23" x 39" (40 cm x 60 cm x 100 cm) or smaller than 2" x 6" x 8" (5 cm x 15 cm x 20 cm).

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Service/Support dogs can travel in the cabin with the passenger at no extra cost provided they wear muzzles and stay at the feet of the passenger without obstructing the aisles throughout the journey. They must be trained to assist the disabled passenger in performing daily activities and must also comply with other regulations applicable on the transport of pets.
