China Eastern Airlines Pet Policy

Only a restricted number of animals are allowed to fly onboard China Eastern Airlines. To ensure a confirmed booking, passengers must make plans in advance. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

China Eastern Airlines welcomes dogs, cats and household birds as pet passengers.

In-cabin

At present, China Eastern Airlines does not allow pets to travel in the cabin of the aircraft.

Checked Baggage

Pets that travel as checked baggage must be kept inside the carrier which can either be medium sized measuring not more than 32 x 21 x 22 inches or large sized within the dimensions of 36 x 60 x 26 inches. No matter the choice of carrier, the weight of it including that of the pet must not exceed 70 lbs. The carrier should be big enough for the pet to stand up, turn around and sit comfortably. It should also be intact with latches and bolts to avoid any accidental opening during the flight’s duration.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

China Eastern Airlines accepts service dogs in the cabin of the aircraft at no extra charge. However, to assure a place for the service dog, a passenger must fill two applications online, “Application for Special Passengers" and Application for Carriage of Small Animal/Service Dog.” Post approval, the passenger must be ready to present the airline with documents such as a valid animal health certificate and an effective work certificate.
