China Airlines Pet Policy

China Airlines has made arrangements for pet travel in the baggage hold. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Domesticated dogs, cats and guide dogs older than 10 weeks of age can be transported through China Airlines. Pregnant pets, pets who have recently delivered and pets with a strong odor may not be accepted to travel.

In-cabin

Only Service/Emotional Service dogs can travel in the cabin. All other pets must go in the baggage hold.

Checked Baggage

You will be charged depending on the weight of your pet. Only 1 pet per container will be permitted for pets older than 6 months. However, 2 puppies or 2 kittens can travel together in the same container. All the permits, health certificates and vaccination records required by the country of origin and the destination country must be arranged for approval by the airline.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Service/Emotional Service dogs can travel in the cabin with the passengers free of charge. Guide dogs must be leashed and should remain at the passenger’s feet throughout the journey. Proper identification along with permits and vaccination records will be required by the airline to grant permission for the Service dog to travel. In case of Emotional Service dogs a letter issued by a licensed mental health practitioner confirming the passenger’s mental or emotional disability as stated in Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) IV, and the need for an emotional service dog will be required for verification.
