Most airlines accept pets weighing 20 lbs or less in the cabin and no more than 100 lbs in the cargo hold. Larger dogs that do not meet the requirement of the cabin will be transported in the cargo hold. Before booking your flights with a pet, it is always advised to check any seasonal restrictions the airline may have.

Central Mountain Air Pet Policy

Central Mountain Air accepts pets to travel in the cabin, in the hold and in the cargo. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s). The transportation of animals will be subject to space availability, so confirming the booking is the first step of many, as are explained further.

Pet Criteria

Dogs and cats older than 10 weeks old can travel with Central Mountain Air.

In-cabin

If the combined weight of the pet and their carrier is less than 22 lbs (10 kg), the pet will be eligible to travel in the cabin. The airline recommends a hard sided carrier but will also accept a soft sides one as long as it fits comfortably under the seat in front of the passenger. The dimensions of the carrier must not be more than 9" x 15" x 17" (23 cm x 38 cm x 44 cm) and the pet must be able to sit, stand and move around comfortably.

Checked Baggage

Pets and their respective carriers that weigh more than 22 lbs (10 kg) and less than 100 lbs (45 kg) can travel in the baggage hold. The carrier must be waterproof and large enough for the pet to travel comfortably but the dimensions must not exceed 36" x 26" x 28" (14 cm x 10 cm x 11 cm).

In-cargo

Pets weighing up to 100 lbs (45 kg) can be transported in the cargo compartment as well. A prerequisite of the carrier being transported through cargo service is that it must be of a strong and sturdy built.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Service animals can travel in the cabin of the aircraft at no extra cost. They are required to be harnessed and to occupy the space at the passenger’s feet. Due to the space restrictions, the airline may not be able to accommodate very large service animals, so checking the availability of space with the airline will be important.
