Most airlines accept pets weighing 20 lbs or less in the cabin and no more than 100 lbs in the cargo hold. Larger dogs that do not meet the requirement of the cabin will be transported in the cargo hold. Before booking your flights with a pet, it is always advised to check any seasonal restrictions the airline may have.

Cayman Airways Pet Policy

Cayman Airways welcomes pets to travel in the cabin, in the hold and in the cargo compartment. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s). A maximum of 4 pets in the hold and a maximum of 2 pets in the cabin are allowed to travel per flight, so confirming the availability is the first step of many, as are explained further.

Pet Criteria

Dogs, cats and household birds are accepted for travel with Cayman Airways.

In-cabin

For a pet to travel in the cabin, their weight should be less than 22 lbs (10 kg). Cayman recommends a soft sided carrier with dimensions no more than 23" L x 13" W (58 cm x 33 cm). In case, the pets are traveling with Cayman Airways Express, the carriers should not be bigger than 9" x 12" x 24" (22 cm x 30 cm x 60 cm). The pet should be comfortably placed inside the carrier.

Checked Baggage

Pets who exceed the weight limitation as required for in-cabin travel can travel as checked baggage as long as the combined weight of the pet and the carrier is less than 99 lbs (44 kg). The carrier must be hard sided and should be smaller than 30" H x 23" W (76 cm x 58 cm).

In-cargo

Unaccompanied pets will be transported through the cargo service.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Guide dogs, hearing dogs and service dogs can travel in the cabin free of charge if they are assisting the passenger with some disability. The passenger will have to provide the required documents such as a valid passport for the animal, certificate identifying them as a guide/hearing/service dog, health certificate etc. The dog must wear an ID’d collar and should also be harnessed throughout the journey. The service dog will need to sit at the feet of the passenger.
