Most airlines accept pets weighing 20 lbs or less in the cabin and no more than 100 lbs in the cargo hold. Larger dogs that do not meet the requirement of the cabin will be transported in the cargo hold. Before booking your flights with a pet, it is always advised to check any seasonal restrictions the airline may have.

Caribbean Airlines Pet Policy

Caribbean Airlines welcomes pets to travel in their baggage hold and in their cargo service. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s). The transport of live animals is subject to availability of space, so confirming the booking is the first step of many, as explained further.

Pet Criteria

Dogs and Cats are accepted in the baggage hold. Other animals may be accepted in the cargo section depending on the import or export restrictions.

In-cabin

Currently no pets other than Service/Emotional Support dogs are permitted to travel in the cabin of the aircraft.

Checked Baggage

Pets can travel in the hold area provided their weight combined together with the carrier’s weight is no more than 70 lbs (32 kg). The dimensions of the carrier should not exceed 115 in x 75 in (292 cm x 191 cm). The pet should be settled comfortably in the carrier with sufficient space for standing, sitting, and moving around.

In-cargo

Pets who exceed the weight and size limitations of the baggage hold will be transported through the Caribbean’s Cargo Service. The carriers should be IATA compliant and should provide animals with enough space to sit, stand and move around comfortably. Also, proper instructions should be provided regarding feeding, watering and handling.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Service/Emotional Support dogs can travel at zero extra cost in the cabin with their respective individuals. They will not be allowed to occupy any seat but can settle in the area at the passenger’s feet in a way that they do not obstruct the aisles. The dog’s travel will only be approved after the submission of certain documents like a letter signed by a licensed mental health professional stating the individual’s mental health disability and the importance of the animal for the individual’s treatment. Other documents like vaccination records may also be needed.
