Cape Air Pet Policy

Cape Air welcomes live animals and takes reservations for it on first come first serve basis. However, due to space and weight restrictions, pets may be denied traveling. So, checking out all the details before planning to travel with a pet is recommended. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Domesticated dogs, cats, household birds and rabbits are accepted for flying on Cape Air flights.

In-cabin

A pet must be secured within a soft sided carrier or a hard sided carrier throughout the flight’s duration. The carrier must be adequately sized to allow the pet to stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably. The recommended size of the carrier as per the airline is 28 x 20.5 x 20.5 inches. Also, the combined weight of the pet and that of the carrier should be within 20 pounds.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Cape Air allows emotional support and service animals to travel in the cabin of the aircraft at no additional cost. However, the information about traveling with an emotional support or service animal must be communicated to the airline in advance as only one live animal is transported per aircraft.
