British Airways follows a ‘one of the family’ policy when it comes to pet travel. They welcome and treat pets just like their other passengers and have partnered with Pet Air UK and have a sister company by the name IAG Cargo to take care of your pet’s journey. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).
Dogs, Cats and Emotional Support Animals are accepted for travel in the aircraft’s hold. Assistance dogs can travel in the cabin but the airline may have some limitations on the number of assistance animals permitted.
Currently, only assistance dogs can travel in the cabin.
When transporting your pet from the UK, Pet Air UK will take care of all your needs. They will not only find the shortest flight for the convenience of your dog or cat, but also take care of the documentation and the customized crates based on your pet’s measurements.
When transporting your dog, cat or household birds to the UK, IAG Cargo will take care of your pet’s travel. The crate that will be used for your pet’s transport must be of an appropriate size i.e your pet must be able to comfortably stand erect, sit and move around.
Assistance dogs who are trained to help individuals with disabilities or a mental condition can travel in the cabin free of charge. They should be wearing an identification jacket/harness and must be under your control throughout the journey. Emotional Support Animals will be transported along with other pets through Pet Air UK or IAG Cargo.
