AeroMexico Pet Policy

Aeromexico welcomes pets onboard on most of their flights. However certain restrictions may apply. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s). Only up to 6 pets are allowed in the cabin at a time, so confirming the availability and animal restrictions is the first step of many, as explained further.

Pet Criteria

Small pets older than 16 weeks of age are permitted to travel with Aeromexico flights that have a duration of 6 hours or less.

In-cabin

Only 1 pet is permitted per passenger. The maximum combined weight of the pet and the carrier are 20 lbs (9 kg). They must always remain inside their carrier which is waterproof, well ventilated and spacious enough for them to sit, stand and move around comfortably. You can choose either a hard sided or soft sided carrier, the dimensions for which cannot be more than 19" x 12" x 10" (48 cm x 30 cm x 25 cm).

Checked Baggage

If pets are not meeting the requirements for in-cabin travel then they can be transported as checked baggage. The temperature and the pressure in this area is the same as the passenger cabin. The maximum weight of the pet and the carrier that is permitted in the baggage hold is 99 lbs (45 kg). The pets will need to be vaccinated for rabies and be carried in an IATA compliant pet crate. That means that the carrier cannot be of the foldable kind and should be big enough for the pet to sit, stand and lay down comfortably but shouldn’t exceed the maximum dimensions of 40" x 36" x 32" (100 cm x 90 cm x 80 cm).

In-cargo

Mammals and birds, insects, rodents and reptiles can be transported through the cargo facility. The weight limitations and carrier dimensions match with that of checked baggage.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Both Emotional support/service animals are permitted to travel in the cabin at no cost. They must weigh less than 60 lbs (27 kg) and the individual must be able to provide substantial documents stating the animal’s training and/or a licensed mental health professional verifying the emotional requirement of the animal. Depending on the animal’s temperament, they will need to be harnessed or muzzled.
